I am a postgraduate student at the African Masters in Machine Intelligence (AMMI). My research area is in NLP (Natural Language Processing) as well as the application of machine learning for social goods, i.e health and agriculture. Futhermore, having had an undergraduate background in Mathematics coupled with a first master’s degree in Mathematical Sciences from AIMS Cameroon, I employ the techniques and theories drawn from many fields within the context of Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics and Machine Learning, to solve problems and proffer solutions accros the globe, giving me the oppotunity to go into freelancing, as a Data Analyst. Aside, schooling and freelancing, I am currently working as an NLP Engineer at Proto where we imploy the various techniques of natural language processing and AI in general to create chatbots that help boost customers lifetime value and automation rates across emerging markets.

My first taught masters was in Mathematical Sciences, at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences(AIMS). Cassava Disease Classification.
The project involved classifying pictures of cassava leaves into 1 of 4 disease categories (or healthy). The disease categories were: Cassava Mosaic Disease(CMD), Cassava Brown Streak Disease(CBSD), Cassava Bacterial Blight(CBB), and Cassava Green Mite(CGM), where my team TAB-Next got the first position on the kaggle competition.

Object Tracking in Images or Videos.
This project was about detection in time series data. The idea was to track objects in a video, so it was to compare the detected instances in two consecutive frames within a series of frames that make the video. My approach was to use color coding and track the number of detected objects.

Object Detection, Segmentation and Human Pose Estimation.
This project involved reproducing the Mask RCNN paper. The technigues used were instance segmentation and object detection. The implementations was done with Detecron2 instance segmentation pretrained model as well as pose estimation whose backbone was Resnet50.

EDA and Topic Modelling on Tweet Data
Due to the present situation of things in the land Covid 19, one of the measures put in place by the Word Health Oragnisation to curb the spread of the disease is to maintain social distancing. In lue of that, most employers has resolved to working remotely. This is an exploratory data analysis of tweets gathered from January 1st 2020 - June 20, 2020. I scraped data from twiter and a technique called Topc Modelling was used to categorise tweets based on topics. With this, we know some of the trending remote jobs available now.

Statistical Methods for Predicting Prisons Population
In order to explore some statistical modelling techniques like regression and the time series analysis as well as the stock flow model. The study aim to identify the need for future prison places. Using the data collected fron England and Whales as a case study, the skills and techniques can be higly transferable to solving other task.


AN EDA and Inferential Statistics of Osteoprious Disease in Saudi Arabia
This is a primary data analysis of a survey that was carried out among the adult population of Saudi Arabia. The study aim to evaluate the impact of knowledge, attitude and management of Osteoprious disease among adult.


Predicting student final grade using Machine Learning models
Exploring 3 different machine learning models (Decision Tree, Multivariate Regression and Random Forest) to predict the final grade score of Mathematics course in Portuguese, as well as some explaratory data analysis to explore who performs best in class, male or female?


A predictive analysis using the Pareto (80/20) principle
In order to assist marketing team look into their businesses by analyzing their existing customer dataset to determine customer trends and behavior, I adopted the Pareto (80/20) principle along side some machine learning classification algorithms to classify customers that brings 80% of the profit to the organization. These are the customers worth targeting. Details can be found in the presentation below.

Neural Machine Translation
In order to help address the one of the challenges of low resourse language in NLP, I was involved in a open source project were I implemented a machine translation. Translating the English Bible to Efik and vice versa. Details can be found bellow.




Computer Programming

  • Python: I am familiar with Pytorch , Scikit learn , numPy and pandas among others.
  • R: I have experience using some libraries, find here a sample project done with R. predicting student Maths score using ML techniques
  • SPSS: I have good understanding of SPSS as well as it's functionalities, expecialy for carrying out different statistical analysis. I know what test to us and when to use them. An example of a project carried out using SPSS package is the EDA and Inferential Statistics Project. Details can be found in the project section.
  • NLP Tools: I am familiar some of the NLP tools and libraries such as the NLTK, as well as other machine learning and deep learning tools.
